regarding the unethical practices, persistent misinformation, and complete lack of accountability exhibited by The Co-operative Bank. My experience has been one of deliberate deception, a refusal to address legitimate grievances, and what appears to be retaliatory action against an honest customer. It has become abundantly clear that The Co-operative Bank operates with a disregard for truth and customer welfare. When faced with their own banking errors, instead of acknowledging and rectifying them, your institution resorts to outright lying, providing misinformation, and evading responsibility. This pattern of behaviour is not only unprofessional but fundamentally untrustworthy for a financial institution. My own experience details this lack of integrity. When I attempted to resolve issues that were demonstrably the bank's fault, I was met with denial and deflection. Instead of offering fair compensation for the bank's mistakes, I was subjected to a fabricated accusation of my account being involved in fraud. This is a severe and baseless claim, and when I demanded evidence to substantiate this allegation, your bank was unable to provide any. This suggests a deliberate tactic to avoid financial responsibility and to silence a customer raising legitimate complaints. Furthermore, I am aghast at the arbitrary power banks possess to close customer accounts with minimal or no justification. It appears that if your staff members are displeased, perhaps due to being challenged on their misleading conduct, they can simply decide to terminate a customer's banking relationship. This is a blatant abuse of power and leaves customers vulnerable and without recourse. The individual responsible for the further misinformation and lack of engagement in my case is Monuwar Ali, a Customer Resolution Investigator within your Executive Team. Mr. Ali demonstrably failed to listen to my concerns during our telephone conversation and took absolutely nothing on board. His subsequent written response was a direct contradiction of the facts and my account of events, confirming his role as a disseminator of lies. I strongly advise anyone considering banking with The Co-operative Bank to reconsider. This institution cannot be trusted. They will lie, they will mislead, and they will attempt to bury their mistakes under a mountain of deceit. When they cannot handle a complaint through legitimate means, they resort to baseless accusations and account closures. I have meticulously documented my interactions, including audio recordings of telephone conversations where your staff members have provided misinformation and demonstrated their dishonest approach. These recordings will be made public on all social media platforms to expose the true nature of The Co-operative Bank. I am now taking legal action and will be pursuing this matter through the courts. My resolve is firm, and I will see this through to its conclusion. Given the clear evidence of your bank's misconduct, I am confident in my pursuit for justice. I demand a full investigation into the aforementioned issues, including the conduct of Monuwar Ali and the reasons for the purported "fraud" accusation that led to the closure of my account. I expect a comprehensive and honest response to this complaint, outlining the immediate steps you will take to rectify these wrongs.

I applied for a new bank account through their online services. After weeks of waiting nothing happened. Did not even get a letter to say the application wasn't successful. Customer service takes forever to get through, when I eventually did they told me it will be looked into and someone will get back. No one did. Makes me wonder if my personal info is safe with Co operative bank. Appalling bank and customer services. Now opened an account with Monzo and couldn't be happier.

It has taken me soooo long to do it, but GOODBYE Co-op bank. Switch initiated today. I've been with you since I was a student 25 years ago. I miss the old customer service, phones that were answered, banking that worked, and the old cooperative principles that came before private equity. I really hope someone in The Co-operative Bank listens, and maybe just maybe gets the damn app to work too!

'The ethical bank' is what they say. They are like any other bank or financial institution. Open arms when the going is good and shut the door in your face when it isn't. I recently had a financial bump in the road and was met with 'sorry there's nothing we can do to help'. Luckily, I have cashed a pension in. So when it gets paid into said bank after being with them 15 years, I will close my account and take my money elsewhere. Take note and avoid if you can.

I have been a member of the co-op Bank for over sixty years. They have looked after me and my account with a firm hand I do not need to worry about any scams or unusual happenings as the bank is always on the ball. I would like to say a special thanks to Samantha at Manchester for her patience and expert Pl. I can't express my thanks to the bank enough. After being retired for 25yrs I will never forget my working days with the co-operative bank. Keep up the good work for my grandchildren.

Atrocious service! Woefully understaffed to manage customer calls - the recorded message states that they are experiencing exceptionally high call levels but have cut the business hours in which to deal with customer queries. They do not offer an alternative form of contact such as an online chat facility or email address to facilitate ease of communication for customers with disabilities (I am partially deaf so struggle to hear on the telephone). They offer free business banking to new businesses - but I have just been sent a bill for charges on my account despite being a new business customer. I am at a loss as to how this bank can meet my business banking needs - perhaps I should just close my account as that might actually gain a response from the bank...if they even noticed that I had left!!

Smile bank review. After nearly 15 years, I switched to Monzo and I'm much happier. Never had a credit card, loan or mortgage. Twice I asked for help in extending an overdraft by a couple of hundred pounds, when I really needed it. No. They reduced my overdraft by £800, again when I really needed it. As soon as I sorted out my finances sorted out, I switched. At no point did Smile try to call me, send me a letter to try and get me to stay. They just don't care, so they're toast. Avoid. There are much better challenger banks like Starling and Monzo that help you keep track of your spending, and have the same protection level. If a bank offers you nothing, what is their point?
